North Elementary fifth-grader Jose Rubio-Pavon was recently diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor at only 12 years old.
His family told police he had always wanted to be a cop. Officers Anna-Marie Cuney, Levy Slagle and Corporal Monce Portillo visited Jose in his hospice room to swear him in as a special officer to the Brighton Police Department.
He was presented with an official police uniform shirt, a junior officer badge and a certificate recognizing him as a member of the department.
He sported a giant smile while taking the oath of office.
